Overview[]
The Ironclad is a unit released in the 4.7 Patch. It is the drop reward unit for the Dreadnought, which became a repeatable boss in the same patch. Its current drop rate is 5%.
It is a very decent unit, although for a drop, compared with other naval units, it does not stand out. On the up side, its attacks are accurate, where the bombard would actually cover the 9 squares, hitting the middle row hardest; and the mega bombard will definitely hit the 5 squares in a cross-like manner, punishing the centre mostly (but unable to hit the air).
Having reviewed the unit closely, there is a general feeling that while it would be a good unit, it still does not surpass a Mammoth battleship in terms of damage output or survivability, but it does have immunities to breach and stun.
In summary, although it is not impressive ( as a phalanx or ranged or melee drop), it is useful (but hardly a game changer for naval combat). Players unable to defeat the dreadnought should take comfort that they can acquire a few Mammoth Battleships instead, as the latter are reliable alternatives.

Trivia[]
- Ironclads were first put into use during the American Civil War, where they provided artillery support during combat.
- The design of the Ironclad Battleship closely resembles that of the design of the USS Monitor, an Ironclad warship used by the Union Navy during the American Civil War.
- The Ironclad Battleship is the first boss drop that is not a physical part or the reproductive body of the boss that drops it.
