Overview[]

The Gunner is an Infantry unit that can be trained at the Barracks.

The Gunner's Machine Gun is capable of attacking a three-block-wide area up to two rows deep. It is most effective against clumped, lightly armored enemy formations, such as Raiders and many Critters.

At Rank 3, the Gunner gains access to Machine Gun: Heavy Fire, which increases potential damage output by doubling the number of attacks from three to six. This attack can be used twice before the Gunner’s ammunition is depleted. Aside from the additional ammo use and a minor reduction in Offense, Heavy Fire has the same cooldown as the standard attack, Machine Gun: Spray.

The Gunner has low Defense and no Dodge, which remain unchanged as the unit levels up, making them vulnerable to direct attacks. Placement in the first row maximizes damage output but increases risk, while placement in the second row provides partial protection from direct Line of Fire attacks. As a Piercing damage-type unit, the Gunner is less effective against heavily armored units but can degrade the armor of lighter targets, such as Riot Troopers.

    Trivia[]

    • The fact that the Gunner has an anti-air (AA) attack could be a reference to the fact that in WW2, Light Machine Guns (LMG) And Heavy Machine Guns (HMG) were sometimes used as AA weapons.
    • The weapon seems to be based off the WW1 MG 08 or the Vickers machine gun.
