Overview[]

The Light Artillery is one of few artillery units that does not require Nanopods to train. Artillery units, like this one, excel at dealing moderate damage to a target at long range, generally from the safety of the rear ranks. Its attacks also does smaller "splash" damage to surrounding units.

At Rank 2, the Light Artillery can be equipped with the Chem Shell attack that deals StatusEffect-poison Damage-over-Time, as well as armor piercing with the initial attack. The lengthy cooldown and low-damage nature of this attack is best saved for later ranks, especially when the second ability slot becomes available, which will allow this unit to expend all its ammo by the 5th round.

The Triple Strike attack effectively converts the damage type from Damage explosive to Damage piercing and affects a larger area. However, its late rank availability means that its target selection will be more limited, since armored enemy units will be more plentiful at this time. Be cautious about spending those Resource-nanopod Nanopods to research this attack.

Also by late game, the Light Artillery loses much use given its low Stat-HP. A deviating rocket, splash damage from stronger artillery and backstabbing units can quickly dispatch of the Light Artillery. Interestingly, the actual unit is unlocked at Level 18, but requires a Gun Foundry, not available until Level 20, which is the reason why the unit isn't fully unlocked until then.
