The Saboteur is a premium Infantry unit that can be trained in the Barracks. It was first introduced during the Greenborough missions in the 1.3 Patch. During the campaign, a named NPC version of the unit temporarily joins the player’s forces for specific missions, beginning at Rank 1 and gaining SP normally.
The Saboteur is most effective against Vehicles, due to the high single-hit damage of its Demolition Charge: C4. While its cooldown limits attack frequency, it compensates with strong burst damage and armor piercing compared to similar units. Its Contact (Back)Line of Fire allows it to engage targets from behind, bypassing front-line defenders and directly striking vulnerable rear targets.
At Rank 2, the Saboteur gains access to Silenced 9mm: Shoot. This ability deals Piercing damage, features a flat 20% critical bonus, and has both a short cooldown and reload time. An additional Ability Slot also becomes available at this rank, allowing the unit to equip both Demolitions Charge: C4 and Silenced 9mm: Shoot simultaneously.
The Saboteur's left eye appears to be glowing red, suggesting he might be a cyborg.
Much like the Guerrilla, the Saboteur appears to fire its gun three times but the damage only applies once.
When viewing the attacks in game, the Saboteur appears to be holding their hand over their ear with the gun aimed at the enemies while in game they stand with the pistol up next to their head.
For a short period of time (6/8/2012-6/11/2012), the Saboteur was available for training at the Barracks, for 55 Nanopods. As of the 2.1 Patch, the Saboteur was permanently added to the Barracks, albeit for 65 Nanopods.
