- "At least we're not Troopers."
- — Sharpshooter motto.
Official Web Profile[]
Troopers that survive their first deployment receive a 2-hour crash-course in marksmanship and are immediately promoted to Sharpshooters. Deployed behind front-line units, Sharpshooters can turn the tide of a battle with their ability to take long-range shots at smug, high-value targets hiding in the back of enemy formations.
Imperial Sharpshooters are issued the M9 Designated Marksman Rifle, a bolt-action rifle in service since Emperor Conrad’s border wars a generation ago. A recent study conducted by the Office of Imperial Statistics found that at a distance of 20 feet, Sharpshooters were 37% more likely to hit the broad side of a barn than Troopers, due in large part to the Sharpshooters’ tendency to actually aim before pulling the trigger.
Particularly hated by enemy officers, Sharpshooters have a short life expectancy – which gave rise to their motto, “At least we’re not Troopers."
Overview[]
The Sharpshooter is an Infantry unit that can be trained in the Barracks, and is the first of the Sniper unit class type available to the player.
The Sharpshooter attacks from the back row using its Marksman Rifle, which has infinite ammunition and does not require reloading. Instead, the weapon has a 2-turn cooldown between attacks. The weapon's primary ability, Aimed Shot, delivers precise, high-accuracy fire and features an increased
critical chance against
Infantry. The ability benefits from Precise Line of Fire, allowing the attack to target enemies through partially blocking units. Compared to other
Infantry units, the Sharpshooter has lower
Bravery,
Defense, and
Dodge, making it less resilient in direct combat but emphasizing its role as a long-range attacker.
At Rank 3, the Sharpshooter gains access to Marksman Rifle: Quick Shot. Quick Shot has a shorter cooldown than Aimed Shot but has less range and
Offense, changes the Line of Fire from Precise to Direct, and removes the
critical bonus against
Infantry.
All Marksman Rifle abilities share the same weapon cooldown, preventing consecutive use of different rifle attacks in immediate succession.
To unlock this unit in the Barracks, the player needs to complete the missions A Terrible Boar - Part 5 and How to Kill People From Quite a Long Way Away in addition to meeting the Level requirement.
