- "I mean, there they were - part of some crappy country just sitting there wearing those stupid hats, and then we came along and made them part of the Empire! How awesome was that?"
- — Emperor Hendrik II
Overview[]
The ‘’‘Empire’’’ is a long-standing nation that controls most of central Ateria. It is led by an emperor, who may have a military advisor to aid in commanding forces. In recent years, the Empire has struggled to suppress the growing Rebel Army, which is composed of people conquered by the Empire in the past.
History[]
Conquest of Ateria[]

The Imperial nation has existed for over 500 years, with significant expansion occurring during the reign of Emperor Hendrik the Great, the grandfather of Emperor Hendrik II. Under Hendrik the Great, the Empire tripled in size, conquering central Ateria.
The Rebellion[]
During these conquests, many nations fell to the Empire’s military superiority, leading to the suppression of their cultures. After Hendrik the Great’s death, his son, Emperor Tragan, inherited the throne. Thirteen years before the events of the game, under Tragan’s rule, the Empire’s oppression led to the formation of the Rebellion.
Emperors Hendrik I and Tragan
When Tragan died, the Empire was left in turmoil. The young and inexperienced Emperor Hendrik II was not equipped to lead the Empire against the growing Rebellion, which threatened to overrun the Empire’s core territories. The Empire’s fortunes changed with the rise of General Ashe, who pushed the Rebels back to a peninsula in eastern Ateria.
Two years before the game’s events, Lt. Morgan, General Ashe, and the newly promoted Captain believed they had cornered the last Rebel stronghold. After a bombing strike ordered by Ashe, Morgan believed the Rebels were close to being defeated.

However, General Ashe unexpectedly defected to the Rebels, frustrated with being controlled by the immature Hendrik II. Ashe’s defection led to a two-year stalemate with the Empire. Without Ashe’s expertise, Emperor Hendrik II initiated research projects across the Empire to create a superweapon capable of wiping out the Rebels and Ashe. Despite these efforts, the Rebellion gained the upper hand in the war.
End of the Empire[]
After the defeat of Warlord Gantas by the 95th Rifle Company, the Rebels, led by General Ashe, launched a surprise assault on the Imperial capital, Cariston, using false intelligence to evade Imperial forces. During the attack, they executed Hendrik II, leading to the fall of the Empire.

The Emperor’s death sparked chaos across the Empire, which had no clear successor. The Empire collapsed, with control passing to the countries that had formed the Rebellion. However, without a common enemy, these countries’ alliances began to dissolve.
Aftermath[]
Only a few installations survived the Empire’s collapse, mainly outposts that remained hidden from the Rebels. The 95th Rifle Company continued to protect frontier towns in the Northern Frontier and Southern Frontier, attracting attention from the Silver Wolves and eventually the Rebel Army. The 95th, alongside Installation 17, managed to repel the Rebels, but the fate of these surviving Imperials remains unknown.
A small group of Imperials also protected the metropolitan area of Marin.
